Many websites offer RSS news feeds. What is RSS?

A simple web search returns many standalone RSS feed readers. Many folks are too busy to explicitly follow news feeds in yet another standalone application. Fortunately, there are good RSS plugins avaialble for most popular browsers.

Using an RSS reader is simple. Once the plugin is installed, simply open the RSS side panel. Then define the RSS feeds you wish to follow. Click the update button and all the new feed items from your selected feeds are highlighted in the reader. All of the major news sources (ex BBC, CNN, NY times, etc) offer RSS feeds of their websites. We've amalagamated several RSS feeds into the News page of this wiki. If you prefer to follow that amalagamated RSS feed in your RSS, just addhttp://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.run?_id=SKUtuBzc3BGIP5hsn0artA&_render=rss as one of your feed sources.

More information on the How and Why of using RSS can be found in Understanding RSS Feeds
